The Red Hook Energy Committee has created this website to help Red Hook residents learn about the benefits of going electric. Upgrading to efficient electric home appliances, vehicles, and other equipment that can run on clean energy protects your health, reduces pollution and noise, and can save you money. The best news is that there’s a lot of money available to help you do it.

Vehicle upgrades
Did you know the top-selling car globally in the first quarter of 2023 was an all-electric SUV?
Many EVs are priced below the average cost of a new vehicle. When coupled with incentives and savings on fuel and maintenance costs, an EV can be much cheaper than a fossil fuel vehicle. New York State and federal incentives can help you save up to $9,500 when purchasing an EV.

- Rooftop solar - The Inflation Reduction Act offers tax credits for rooftop solar covering 30% of installation costs.
- Community solar - Can’t add solar to your rooftop? Consider community solar. Subscribers to Red Hook’s first community solar project saved 50% last year as compared to market prices.
- Red Hook’s CCA - Through Red Hook’s community choice aggregation (CCA) program, residents can access 100% clean solar electricity at a fixed rate…and you don’t have to do anything to sign up. Learn more about CCA.
